    Chase Plus one visa credit card?
    I am 19 and a new credit card holder.
    I have a few questions about my new chase +1 visa credit card.
    First of all, I am not sure whether I should take this or not. I will decide that after I get some good advices. I don’t think the card is activated because it says “prior to using your card, please call this number from your home phone to verify receipt of your card.”
    Here is some information about the card.
    This card is for students.
    Credit line is $800
    Cash access line is $160 – I am not sure what this is.
    0% apr for first three billing cycles. Then it says, “Purchase apr after the introductory period – the prime rate plus 14.99%, currently 19.24%.”
    So what will be the real apr after three months???
    Should I activate the card?
    I am not thinking of buying too many things with this card. I just wanted to establish a good credit line.
    Please feel free to comment.
    If i do not activate this card, will that affect my credit? Will I be able to get another card?

    I have a credit history of 5 years, with nothing negative on my credit reports. My last credit score (yes, I already know it varies and goes up and down) was 752. I am not a homeowner right now, and probably won’t be for at least another several years. I have no major debts other than a little bit of debt that I’m currently paying down to zero, on a couple of credit cards. I’ve never had a car loan, student loan or any other kind of loan. I do, however, have major credit cards.

    I currently have:

    American Express Clear: $25k credit limit, zero balance and used every few months to keep it active. Opened about 3 years ago.
    American Express Accelerated Rewards: $10k credit limit, zero balance and used every few months to keep it active. Opened about 1.5 years ago.
    Chase Visa: $6k credit limit. $1,500 balance and dropping. Opened in 2008.
    Discover More: $11k credit limit, zero balance, but has recurring charges every month and paid in full. Opened in 2007.
    Bank of America Platinum Plus Visa: $10k credit limit, zero balance and a revolving balance that’s paid in full each month. Opened in 2005.
    Citi Platinum Select Mastercard: $4,200 credit limit – $3,200 balance and dropping. Opened in 2009.

    Will not having any “loans” otherwise affect my getting a house in the future? I don’t have a stable enough job right now (Only about $16k a year), but I was just curious about 4 years or so down the road when I make more. Will these credit cards be enough history for a decent mortgage rate? Thanks. :-)
    I have 6 cards that have NO annual fees. Apparently none of the credit card companies consider me a “risk” as you say, since they were willing to extend the credit lines to me.

    I also stated that I *currently* make about $16k, and that I wouldn’t try to get a mortgage until probably several years down the road when I make a lot more than what I do now.

    Don’t people read these questions in detail anymore, or do they just post random crap now?

    It isn’t activated until you call from home or customer service with identifying information.

    Cash access line is how much you can take out from a bank or ATM in real cash. It is normally 20% of the total credit line.

    The APR will be 19.24% if the prime rate remains the same as now. This isn’t a good rate for an initial card.

    If you do activate the card make sure you pay in full every month.
