When the loan mortgage crisis hit the fan, everyone was affected. Now, more than ever, people are relying on credit cards just to weather out the storm. But at the same time credit cards are getting harder and harder to come by. Creditors are so strict nowadays. They can no longer afford any risks. People with bad or mediocre credit will be hard pressed to get any good card offers. This is why not knowing oneâs credit card application status can be such a nerve wracking experience. Have you ever applied for a card and were forced to wait for such a long time before any news of what happened to your card comes? For people who need the transactional flexibility that a credit card brings, this will not do.
But the problem is that there are so many factors that make it harder and harder for peopleâs card applications to be accepted. The new credit card laws that have just been passed are all contributing to the squeeze on the already squeezed industry. The bad debt that has been building in credit cards is also starting to worry economists. The debt is now around one trillion dollars.
All this is just bad news for the people who really need their plastic. It builds up on the worry that adds up to their already heavy burden. While waiting for the results of the application, one might even be tempted to apply to another credit card or look for other means to get an advance on your money. Giving in to this temptation can be a big mistake and you can lose even more money this way. It would especially be a big mistake if the card you were waiting for gets approved. Having two cards or two debts when you only need one is definitely not a good thing.

Of course it depends on which card. Most card companies let you check your status online. However if you donât want to access it online, you could do it by phone. A Wal-Mart card application status for example can be checked by calling their number 1-877-294-7880. This service number however requires that you give your social security number.
In conclusion, checking your status is a matter that is in your hands. You just need to ask the right people for the telephone number or web address where you can check the application status.

I think you should ask the manager of your local store. It may be that your card was stolen in the mail.

I applied for their student credit card about a month ago and have yet to hear back! I’ve been online and it says I should have recieved an answer within 7-10 business days and the associate at the store told me around 15 days. It’s been a month and nothing! Usually, if you don’t get an instance approval, that means you were denied. They don’t put the application status on line. You should receive a letter from the company within 7-10 business days.
If you don’t hear from them, call the company.
WAMU is typically unresponsive. It appears that their pre-approved card is a cruel deception. Perhaps, all the aggrieved applicants should file a class action lawsuit
Go to the web site and see if there is a “Check your status” button. If you don’t find one, wait for the card or the rejection letter.
