3 Tips To Improve Credit Fast

Author: Stephen Chua

Many people with bad credit are looking for ways to improve their credit fast. Frankly, there isn't any quick fix if you have bad credit. Improving your credit takes time. However, here are three things you can do to speed up the process.

1. Pay down your debt

If you are currently doing only minimum payment for you credit card debt, you will wan to consider paying another ten percent more. If your debt is spread across a few cards and you can only afford to increase the minimum payment for only one card, pick the card with the lowest outstanding balance. This idea here is to eliminate the lowest outstanding balance fast so you are motivated to continue with the idea of increasing your minimum payment.

2. Keep credit accounts open

The longer you have credit, the better your credit rating. If you have a credit card that is ten years old, do not close it yet. Long credit history tends to have a more favorable impact on your score. Even if you no longer need that card, just put it away in a safe place for the time being.

The other reason for not closing credit accounts is to keep your debt to credit ratio as low as possible. If you continue to pay down you debt while keeping the credit amount constant, you will have a low debt to credit ratio, which will affect your credit score in a positive way.

3. Co-signing for a loan

If you know of a friend or relative who has a good credit record and is looking to get a loan, you can consider co-signing for the loan with her. However, this is a double edge sword. In the event that the co-signer did not make payment regularly, your credit score will take a nose dive as well. On the other hand, if you co-singer always make payment on time, you will get a boost to your credit score.

Although applying these tips can boost your score, it cannot happen overnight. You have to monitor the progress by reviewing your credit report regularly, preferably once every 30 days for the first three months. You will also have to fine-tune your efforts if you are not seeing improvements along the way. The important thing is not to give up. As you continue to work on improving your credit score on a daily basis, the only direction your credit score will go is up.

Has anyone ever got result of their credit card application in 1 minute?
Or even a day? Most credit card companies advertise online saying the whole process will take 10 minutes or you will get a result of application in one minute etc. I am now wondering after applying for one such offer and not hearing for 2 days if it is true at all. Has anyone been approved that fast ever?

Ever get a credit card application in the mail before?
So you have received a credit card application? You know what it says, but do know what it really means?
What it says: “You have demonstrated financial responsibility…”
    What it means: You’re breathing!
What it says: “Our membership is difficult to obtain…”
What it means: Death row prisoners are not eligible… in most states!
What it says: “We have shortened the application process…”
What it means: “We need lots of new members fast or we’ll go out of business!”
What it says: “You have no predetermined credit limit…”
What it means: “We’re not worried, we employ the Break Your Legs collection agency.”
What it says: “Exceptional Customer Service…”
What it means: Except when you need it!
What it says: “Trained customer representatives await your call…”
What it means: “This is the part you talk into, and this is where you listen. Any questions?”
What it says: “To apply for membership, fill out this short form…”
What it means: You’ll get the long form later.
What it says: “You may direct us not to share this information with anyone else…”
What it means: “Catch us, if you can!”
What it says: “We look forward to receiving your completed application…”
What it means: “We baited the hook, let’s see if anyone bites!”
What it says: “You’ve been pre-approved…”
What it means: “You’ve been pre-approved to be Rejected!” or “We’ve already prepared your letter of denial.”

Getting credit isn’t a contest. It is a responsibility. What is the difference how long it takes? If you are so in a hurry to spend money you don’t have, perhaps it would be best if it took at least a month to get a new credit card.

SOOO true Jake!!! LOL!! But when they barrage 19 yr-olds with good jobs who have just received their first credit card, with huge amounts of ‘ pre-approved’ credit card applications in the mail (like my son), wasting our trees, time & money (postal service, trash service, on and on..)
I taught him a little secret that I I will share with you all if you want to get back at them. All of those offers include a “no postage nececcary” envelope to return your ‘application’.
Go to a hardware store, such as H. Depot, and take the envelope & have them cut a piece of their heaviest plate steel the size of the envelope. This may cost you a few bucks, unless the worker has fathered your children, like in my case. Fill out the application with the most ridiculous information you can come up with, making sure to write “TAKE ME OFF YOUR MAILING LIST!” across the application as large as possible. Take the application & metal plate, enclose them in the “no-postage-needed” envelope and drop in your nearest mailbox!
These credit sharks will have to pay the postage when they receive this, and I guarantee you won’t be hearing from them again!! Have a great day!!!!

THEY ARE BOTH. THEY GET PAID 25 PER WHO APPLY
, MY FRIEND USED TO WORK AT THAT JOB . WHAT HE USED TO DO WAS SENT YOUR APPLY TO THE BANK SO HE COULD GET PAID AND COPY FOR HIM SELF, SELL TO GOOD CREDIT ONE PPL HE LOOKS AT YOUR CREDIT AND IF IT WAS GOOD.. SELL IT FOR $3000 THEY APPLY FOR LOANS. IS BETTER TO APPLY AT BANK THEN ON STREET..
PS I HOPE YOU DID NOT APPLY WITH DOSE PPL

i dont think you will have a problem. If you pay your bill every month that is all that the company cares about in the end. one tip though is that when you pay your bill every month dont just pay the minimum for mainly it all goes toward interest and not towards paying down the actual amount of the card. and dont charge more than you can handle. i was 18 when i got my first card and thought it would be only for emergencies. 7 years later i was in like 20000 debt and all from cards and stuck. so be careful and minfdul of whhat you charge and what you can pay back

Is it SAFE and REAL Credit Card Application?
    Hi,

Sometimes I saw “bank representatives” standing behind a kiosk in a Mall or a big shopping center (Say, a CIBC people in Metrotown, Coquitlam Centre…). They said they are doing credit cards promotions and applying via them will be faster and easier to get a card… something like this…

I am wondering are they REAL bank people? Or just fraud criminals?

    Thank you very much!

I made a mistake on my credit card application, but still got approved?
I got an offer in the mail for a credit card, which is great for me as I am trying to establish my credit. As I was filling out the application online, I was reading through the questions too fast and I thought that it asked for my total household income since I am under 21, when upon reading the info I got in the mail I realized it only asked for my personal. So, I put my total families household income, instead of just my own, and there is a very significant difference between the two. Even though I made this mistake, they still approved me for a credit card. Will this make a difference? Will my credit score be affected? I am only 19, and this is my first experience with a credit card, so sorry if I seem stupid about the subject.
