Is There Such a Thing as a Bad Credit Gas Card?
It used to be that a bad credit gas card was the easiest type of credit card to get. Nowadays, however, it seems that only those with near-perfect credit qualify for the best gas cards on the market. What's happened to gas cards for those with imperfect credit histories? Are gas cards for people with bad credit still out there? The answers may surprise you.

Gas cards are definitely harder to get nowadays and the bad credit gas card may very well become a thing of the past. Why? Believe it or not, gas prices and the economy have a lot to do with it.

When gas prices started to skyrocket, people who couldn't afford gas started putting it on their gas credit cards. The problem is, when the bills came in they had no way of paying them. Eventually, the gas card companies started taking some big hits. Because of this, they began changing their credit requirements for new account holders.
Some Things Change, Others Don't
The funny thing is that while many gas credit card companies changed the way they approve credit applications, they didn't lower their interest rates. Some gas cards charge ridiculous interest rates even though they're now only issuing cards to people with good credit.

A Dying Breed?
So is there a single bad credit gas card left? In all honesty, you're probably better getting a general bad credit credit card. It's easier to qualify for some of the major credit cards than it is for some of the gas cards.
You might also want to consider pre-paid gas cards or secured gas cards. These will allow you to pay at the pump and some even offer rewards similar to unsecured gas credit cards. Personally, I recommend a secured card over a pre-paid as a secured card can help you rebuild your credit while a pre-paid gas card cannot.
Your bad credit gas card can be a stepping stone to bigger and better cards, but it can also hurt you in the long run if you charge more than you can afford. Your credit can get better and you'll qualify for more cards in the future if you mange your payments wisely. Just because the credit is available to you doesn't mean you should use it. Like all other credit cards, only use your gas card to charge what you can afford.
Just remember, if you do obtain a bad credit gas card make sure you pay the bills on time each and every month for a brighter credit future.

I would like to get a credit card that i could use just for gas. I dont have great credit but i dont have bad credit. around the 640 mark.

there are some credit cards that save like 10 cents of a gallon, and thats what im looking for. i will always pay to credit card off monthly, so i dont really care what the interest is.
ok people, i appreciate you trying to help me, but again i will not have to pay interest as i will pay off the credit card every month, i already have a credit card that i use to pay for gas, but i just dont get any rewards with it, and would like a credit card that does.
I use a BP Card and pay it off each month. I have my gas money set off to the side in my check book each month already. Plus I get an extra 15 cent off gas everytime I use it. This comes off the credit card bill. I have had no problems with this system yet. Another posible Gas card to get would be a Shell Card. They have a simular card. You have good enough credit so you should be able to get one. Plus it may help your credit out if you are able to pay it off each month.

You don’t need good credit for one of those cards you need a job so you can pay it off!!
How can I build credit if no one wants to give me credit?
I have been trying to apply for the past couple years at various places like, Walmart, Target, Dillards, Macy’s, Best Buy, couple of gas credit cards and even local furniture stores. They all turn me down because I dont have any credit information. I’m 24 yrs old and I know 18 year olds who have credit cards and loans on cars. WTF?! And I dont want to do one of those secured card deals. According to my friend’s boyfriend I am considered a “ghost” when it comes to credit. I ran my credit through Equifax, Experian and some other big one and they don’t have any record. Just my name and former addresses. No credit score, nothing! I dont have bad credit, I have NO credit. Any suggestions?

Well first off, you have WAY too many inquires, so at this time, no major credit card company would issue you a card nor would a bank give you a loan. The only option you have right now is to get a secured card… Check with your bank first, because if you have a good history with them, they may help you. If not, Bank of America has a partially secured card, that you put $99 in a savings account and they give you a $500 limit. If you pay on time and don’t go over the limit, they will change your card to unsecured and increase your limit in a year.
Other than that, you would have to wait until all of those inquires drop off your credit. Oh and FYI, do NOT apply for muiltple lines of credit because it makes you look desperate!!!
Gas credit cards and my credit?
I was an authorized user to my parents gas credit card and had my own with my name on it. If they have bad debt and are filing for bankruptcy on all credit cards. Does that affect my credit as well for this particular card or just theirs?
It would be best if your parents removed you as an authorized user on the account BEFORE they file for bankruptcy. The account will show on your credit report as having been discharged in bankruptcy. I’m not sure exactly how this will impact your score, but it defnitely isn’t good to have an account listed that way.
