Finding free prepaid credit cards is something that everybody wants nowadays, as these are great devices to have around. However, here’s something you should know-prepaid cards are never free, for the simple fact that they are prepaid.

Also, it’s generally wise to bring these with you on trips, as in the case of booking a hotel or other things where cash is not accepted. Particularly with hotels, they generally require a credit card in order to reserve your room, and usually don’t accept cash for this.

How to convert prepaid credit cards to cash?
I bought a couple products that had mail in rebates on them. When I mailed in the rebates, they sent me my money on a preloaded visa credit card instead of as a check. Is there a way to convert the money from this prepaid card to cash? They don’t work in ATM’s.

I am trying to avoid the bank’s overdraft scams and I think the only way to get a handle on my finances is to go with the prepaid cards. I know that any fees connected to a prepaid credit/debit card is way better than the high bank fees, but still want to go for the best card at the best rate. Anyone have any good experiences or bad with prepaid credit cards? Can you load it by calling in your bank info? I’ve never used any of these and don’t know the first thing about it. they sell “giftcards” almost everywhere. they have visa, american express etc. make sure to buy a prepaid GIFTCARD because they dont have send you bills. they sell them in 10,25,50+ i think. but they charge a 5 dollar fee. so if you want a 25 giftcard then you’d probably end up paying 30 bucks. if you only want to order from one big name store like target or american eagle then you should go to their store and buy a giftcard because they dont charge you extra for their own giftcards. i hope you understand this:) oh and a visa giftcard is accepted where ever visa credit cards are accepted!

I am looking to start my credit rating with a prepaid credit card with a points system that lets me get stuff with the points i earn.
are there any such cards that have NO monthly fees or any fees at all of that sort?

Do prepaid credit cards that you can get at Wal-mart work for age verification online?
I am not underage or anything, I’m just really iffy about putting my credit card information online, the site says that they won’t charge anything, but I’m not willing to take the risk. Anybody know if a prepaid card works works for sites that require a credit card to verify age?

Microsoft Office Live offer free websites but require credit card number for ID purposes. In two years they’ve never deducted a cent.
If you don’t trust a site enough to give them your credit card number then you have to ask yourself if the site is worth dealing with at all. Prepaid cards are an unnecessary expense as they make charges for basic transactions – along with administrative fees – that don’t apply with a normal credit card
Probably the only ways to get cash out would be a cash advance at a bank or cash back on a small purchase at someplace like Walmart.
Watch out for fees with cash advances, though.

I’d agree that the Wal Mart card may be a good one for people. I personally try to look for other alternatives to Wal Mart (for most things), and recently got a Readydebit Visa prepaid card. The fees seem low ($10 to get the card, $5/mo, no purchase transaction fees). The part I like best is the no overdraft fees.
