How fast will my credit score increase with a secured credit card? This is a good question that cannot be answered the same way for each person. While it is true a secured credit card can help to boost your credit score there are certain things that you have to do to make sure you get the maximum benefit from it. Failure to do these things will result in your scores not increasing and your progress stalling.

How To Use Pre Paid Charge Cards To Rebuild Credit Effectively

You need to make sure that you apply for a secured credit card that actually reports each and every month to the major credit score reporting bureaus. Many of these cards on the market actually do not report, or offer reporting as a service you must pay for.. A good reputable lender however will report each month free of charge.

You must also make every effort to make sure you use your card wisely. Many people have the intention of being responsible with their cards but often end up making the same mistakes they made in the past and over spending and winding up with more debt and lower FICO scores. The best way to get around this is to use the card for one or two small purchases every month then pay it off in full.

You must also make every effort to pay the bill on time every month without missing a payment. If you miss a payment you risk damaging your FICO score further. And any negative marks you get by paying late will remain on your credit report for 12 months so it is in your best interest to make sure the bill gets paid in a timely manner. One of the best ways to make sure this never happens to you is to enroll in an automatic bill pay service either through the lender or a third party

What is the best secured credit card to get for a college student?
I’m looking to start building credit, and I’d like to do this by getting a secured credit card. So I’m wondering which cards or brands have good deals for the time I’m going to need it. Also if anyone could give some insight on how the transition works from a secured credit card to a regular credit card, that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Where can I get a secured credit card?
I’m 25 and never had a credit card. I get denied for the regular card, and my bank doesn’t do secured credit cards… I’m a full time student and got turned down for the student card as well. I’ve seen applications online for secured cards that always ask for employer and salary. But I’m a student and would like to use some of my loans to start up some good credit. I’d only use it to pay for utilities and normal things, then pay it off each month.
Where can a student get a secured card?

Try the bank / credit union where you have your checking.

How to get a student credit card?
I know these cards are targeted for college students, must I really be in college?
I’m playing to take a year off before I go to college, can I still get one?
I have no credit history but I want to get any credit card but a secured card to start building my credit
I want no bills under my name yet since those are long term and I know with a credit card I can pay off payments easy.

NO, you have to give the schools name etc…..
No credit history no card, are you employed and 21? New federal rules say that you must prove financial independence or have a co-applicant 21 or older if you are under 21

Student credit card or secured credit card?
I am a 19 year old college student.I have a job, might have 2 jobs if my interview goes well. Anyways I have no credit and am looking to build. Which is better for my situation?

  7. bdancer222 says:

You may not have a choice. Since you are under 21, you must prove sufficient income to qualify for a credit card or have a parent co-sign. It depends on how long you have had your job and what income you have. You may have to start with a secured card.
